In April 2011 I was invited by good friend Bev from With Compassion & Soul to go to Borneo. There I met up with Hardi & his team from the Centre For Orangutan Protection. These amazing guys showed me first hand the full story of palm oil & these amazing orangutans. Deforestation due to illegal logging, palm oil and paper pulp production in the rainforests of Indonesia and Malaysia are destroying our planet and account for 20% of global warming. These dark secrets are relatively unknown and need exposing to enable us to make informed choices and take immediate action. We hope this project gets people thinking about the near extinction of over 3,000 species of flora and fauna Indigenous to these rainforests including the Orangutan. Glenn Alderson Photography & With Compassion & Soul (www.withcompassion.com.au & www.saveorangutans.org.au) are donating 100% of the profits from the sale of all framed & non-framed prints, 2012 calendar, cards & other merchandise from this project to : Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP) www.orangutanprotection.com COP are a direct action group of Indonesian people who campaign to bring an urgent end to the destruction of our rainforests and the killing of orangutans. They focus on the cause of the problems as well as rescuing orphaned orangutans whenever they find them, which is often. Orangutan Land Trust (OLT) www.forests4orangutans.org As a land trust OLT focus on supporting the preservation, restoration and protection of land masses in the areas where orangutans naturally exist or have existed in the past. The main aim of this trust is to ensure that there are safe forest areas set aside for orangutans and other species which accompany them within their habitat to form a healthy ecosystem. Glenn and Bev feel very strongly about deforestation knowing that the rainforest now only covers 6% of our planet and that they are the lungs of our planet. Through their dealings with COP and OLT Glenn and Bev have seen much destruction of virgin rainforest and the deaths and theft of the Orangutan and many other species. They wish to raise awareness about the reasons for this deforestation & near species extinction and raise funds to try to help both COP & OLT achieve their aims.

I walked for 4h00 in forst before to discover an incredible scenery, suddenly, forest turned brown as if devasted by some kind of disease...
